Published jointly with the Semahat Arsel Nursing Education and Research Center (SANERC), this volume is the second, updated edition of the Nursing Handbook for Birth and Women’s Diseases (Doğum ve Kadın Hastalıkları Hemşireliği El Kitabı, published by SANERC in 2000). Its aim is to provide a foundational reference work for nurses, nursing students, midwives and academics. Authored by seventeen experts and written in an accessible language, eighteen text units discuss different topics related to nursing approaches to women’s health. Every unit is based on the most recent information and innovative methods and includes textboxes summarizing the most important points. Moreover, the units include sections with nursing plans, summaries and study questions in a special new format. Particularly the first unit—which discusses general concepts concerning women’s and reproductive health, as well as gender issues and women’s rights—and the last unit—which examines sexual health—bring a new dimension to this volume. The authors hope for their work to serve as a reference book for students and professionals in the fields of nursing and women’s health.
