Broken Heart, or what happens if the intellectual and beautiful daughter of a respected family from Istanbul during 1890 becomes the bride of a family from a lower social class?

Just as her novel’s protagonist, Fatma Fahrünnisa also born into an upper-class family. In his novel serialized in Hanımlara Mahsus Gazete between the autumn of 1896 and the spring of 1897, he tells the story of Mazlume who finds herself in an unwanted marriage and struggles to free herself from it while trying to keep her dignity.

After everything resolves, Mazlume asks the narrator to tell her story in a novel, and create a survival guide for unhappy marriages.

Broken Heart is one of the first texts in Turkish literature that uses the inner-monologue technic.
