Mehmet Rauf is one of the most significant authors of the Republican period of Turkish literature thanks to both with his colorful life, passion for literature, and his ouvre that includes different genres.

In Nightmare, which has been serialized in the newspaper Ikdam in 1928 but never published as a book before,  Rauf deals with the “nightmare” of a newly-wed couple with a tense and gripping narrative. He builds an impressive plot by combining conceps like love, moral, marriage, family, infidelity, loyalty, jealousy, and violence with an original perspective.
